About Dr. Zhang
KC Zhang, PhD, is the medical reviewer for the treatment and condition pages published by the Regeneration Center. Dr. Zhang holds a doctorate from a Department of Microbiology and Immunology and recently served as a Clinical Research Associate at Mendocino College. On this site the reviewer role has one job: to check that every page describes the science as it stands, including what the cited studies actually measured, where the evidence is still early, and where a sentence needs to be narrowed before it reaches a patient.
The review starts with the citations. Immunology and cell biology move quickly, and a statement that was reasonable several years ago can overstate what is known today. Dr. Zhang reads the underlying papers, compares the study populations and endpoints with the wording on the page, and flags conclusions that go beyond the data. A page is not published or republished until the flagged wording has been corrected.
Dr. Zhang pays particular attention to the distance between laboratory results and clinical outcomes. Mechanisms that look promising in cell cultures or animal models often behave differently in people, and the review asks that each page say so plainly. The same standard applies to patient stories, which are presented as individual experiences and never as predictions.
Outside the review desk, Dr. Zhang writes about immunology, cell biology and how to read research for a general audience on Medium, and keeps an academic profile with publications and research interests on ResearchGate. Both profiles are linked below so readers can verify the background behind the review.
