The fields of tissue engineering and developmental stem cell biology have revealed complex networks that regulate how fundamental cell fate are decided. Such information was first leveraged to reprogram cells to inducing iPsc or pluripotent stem cells, and more recently to culture and induce cell fate transitions from one somatic cell state into another without the pluripotent phase.
The Stem Cells and Reprogramming conference will focus on the mechanisms underlying differentiation,cellular totipotency and cell reprogramming. Topics will also include culturing,understanding on cell signaling,translational, transcriptional and epigenetic events that regulate cell fate transitions.
The utility of such cellular regulation for disease modeling and regenerative medicine for organ systems such as kidney,heart,liver and pancreas (diabetes) will also be examined. Recent translational efforts in academia and health industries showing a shift towards acceptance of stem cell therapies will also be highlighted, as will efforts to use cell biology for new drug discoveries and evaluating toxicity of said medicine. The emerging intersection of human genetics and cell biology that are leading to more personalized medicine will be a core focus into most sessions of this conference.
